At Grant Line Garden Center & Nursery we grow a wide selection of roses. We feature many of your favorites as well as the best in new breeding. Our roses are selected specifically for our growing zone. These varieties are hardiest and best blooming rose bushes.

Which Rose is right for you?

Types-

Floribundas-about 3' tall with many small flowers in clusters.

Hybrid Teas-4' to 5' tall, usually single flowers on a long stem, which are perfect for cut flowers.  Tea roses often have a graceful spiral shape.  Some are fragrant.

Shrub Roses-about 3' tall, durable, repeat bloomers-perfect for hedges.  Other shrub types are tall, arching plants and the newer ground cover roses.

Rugosa Roses-old reliable-features single flowers, durable, long-lived.

Grandifloras-Up to 6' tall.  Flowers resemble hybrid tea blooms, but in clusters of 5 to 7.  A result of a cross between the hybrid tea and the floribunda rose.  They bear large, fine flowers.

Climbing Roses-6' to 20' tall.  Climbers have long canes and are usually trained on a fence or trellis.

Tree Roses-usually a hybrid tea for floribunda grafted onto a climbing rose cane; beautifully ornamental; must take precautions to winter over in the Northeast and New England states.

Old Garden Roses-exhibit high petal counts (some as high as 200!).  They are some of the most fragrant roses available.  Many old roses only bloom once, while newer hybrids of old roses will repeat.

What is an "old" rose!

David Austin resurrects antique and English roses.

There has been a remarkable resurgence in the popularity of "old roses".  By definition, these are varieties that were bred or hybridized prior to 1867.  The drawback to "old roses" has always been that they flowered but once a season.  However, due to superior propagation techniques and the diligence of growers, such as England's David Austin, you can now have the best of both worlds: repeat bloomers that exhibit old world charm, high petal counts in robust blooms, coupled with disease resistance.  These are some of  the most fragrant roses available...very romantic, globular, and very full.
